Lighting the Night in Hoboken, NJ

Wednesday, September 23rd, 2009

Over a six-week period in autumn each year, The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society holds nine Light the Night Walks all over New Jersey in order to raise awareness and funds for research into the treatment of blood cancers and other types of cancer.

On Saturday, October 10, 2010, Light the Night will take place at Pier A in Hoboken, NJ and Ginger Donnan Events is thrilled to be involved as a member of the BNI Gold Coast team, a business networking group for Hudson County.

Check in begins at 5 p.m., opening ceremonies start at 6 p.m. and are followed by the two mile Walk. Come join us! Sign up here with a donation or just to Walk and meet the members.

If you can contribute, you should know that:
- A donation of $25 provides patients and their loved ones with FREE booklets that contain up-to-date information on their disease and help them make informed decisions about their treatment options.
- A donation of $50 makes possible a Family Support group with a trained facilitator where comfort can be found and experiences can be shared among patients and family members.
- A donation of $100 helps supply laboratory researchers with supplies and materials critical to carrying out their search for cures.
- A donation of $1,000 makes possible one- on-one conversations with health care specialists who provide patients with information about their disease, treatment options, and helps prepare them with questions for their health care team.

Making the Case for Events Again

Wednesday, September 9th, 2009

Still trying to motivate executives to reengage their event marketing or fundraising programs? Share this Forbes studybased on a June 2009 survey of 760 business executives, that includes these results:

84% prefer face-to-face meetings over technology-enabled meetings for these reasons:
- build stronger, more meaningful business relationships
- ability to read body language and facial expressions
-  more social interaction, ability to bond with co-workers/clients
- allow for more complex strategic thinking
- better environment for tough, timely decision-making
- less opportunity for unnecessary distraction
- lead to higher quality decision making
- easier to focus
- technology-enabled meeting often result in disruption and delays

Smart companies who know this are picking up their event programs now. Don’t let your company be the last in your industry to step up, when competition for venue rates, attendance and other measures of success will seem insurmountable. Get in at this new ground level, when you have the opportunity to reap higher rewards on smaller investments.

Newmark Schools – Art Show

Thursday, September 3rd, 2009

April 24, 2009

The Newmark School and Newmark High School are non-profit, state-approved private schools for 135 children with learning disabilities and behavior disorders. The Art Show was attended by nearly 300 people, raised over $24,000 and featured work by the students that was sold to attendees during a wine and cheese reception and viewing.  Responsibilities included liaising with vendor for food & beverage, lighting, music, graphic design and printing, drafting correspondence and materials, including the invitation, program and solicitation and acknowledgement letters, list management and on-site management throughout the event.

This was our first year of involving an event planner for our annual art show and I am delighted with the results that Ginger Donnan produced. Ginger helped us bring our event to a whole new professional level with joy and ease. She is a consummate professional and brought excellent organization and structure to our event planning process.  She helped guide the entire process with exceptional thoroughness and brought several fresh ideas to our event. As an added unexpected bonus Ginger helped develop our parent volunteer committee and gave us a structure for calling upon them for future events.  I would highly recommend Ginger Donnan Events for any kind of event planning. – Cynthia Allman, Executive Director, Newmark Schools, April 2009

UN Women for Peace Gala

April 17, 2009

The program for this event included an award presentation by Mrs. Ban Soon-taek, the wife of the Secretary General to the UN and the Patron of the organization, to Nobel Peace Prize Laureate Jody Williams. More than 180 people attended, contributing to the $120,000 raised for scholarships for woman to attend the University of Peace in Costa Rica.

On behalf of the UN Women for Peace, I want to convey our thanks to Ginger Donnan for her excellent work on the UN Women for Peace gala Benefit Dinner on April 17, 2009. She took over the planning of the Event only about a week before the date. She met with our Executive Committee, listened to our ideas and started working. Her work was very professional and the Event was a great success. We have had many letters from the participants commenting on what a great evening this was. Thank you, Ginger. – Anna Birgis Hannesson, Chair of the UN Women for Peace, April 2009

Women's Law Forum

Thursday, September 3rd, 2009

November 20, 2008

Hosted by a prominent New York law firm, the Women’s Law Forum was a networking and educational event for over 200 people that featured substantive continuing legal education workshops and a keynote presentation by Soledad O’Brien, CNN Special Correspondent, followed by a shopping experience and cocktail reception at Bergdorf Goodman with a style presentation by Jesse Garza and Joe Lupo, authors of “Nothing to Wear? A 5-Step Cure for the Common Closet.” Participants’ donations and the firm’s 100% matching donation, supported Bottomless Closet, a non-profit organization which aids women in transition.

Working with Ginger Donnan Events made organizing and hosting this key annual event for our law firm’s women clients, one that we knew would go smoothly and without issues. Ginger Donnan’s attention to detail, knowledge of law firms and her ability to build strong relationships with key members of our firm, led to our client event being not only a tremendous success but one that was also fun to attend — a rarity when you’re on the organizing side of it. – Helene Freymann, Director of Marketing, New York Law Firm, December 2008
