The program for this event included an award presentation by Mrs. Ban Soon-taek, the wife of the Secretary General to the UN and the Patron of the organization, to Nobel Peace Prize Laureate Jody Williams. More than 180 people attended, contributing to the $120,000 raised for scholarships for woman to attend the University of Peace in Costa Rica.

On behalf of the UN Women for Peace, I want to convey our thanks to Ginger Donnan for her excellent work on the UN Women for Peace gala Benefit Dinner on April 17, 2009. She took over the planning of the Event only about a week before the date. She met with our Executive Committee, listened to our ideas and started working. Her work was very professional and the Event was a great success. We have had many letters from the participants commenting on what a great evening this was.
